They comes like the locust swarms in Egypt...

More Danish Freeshooters, or Snapphanar as the Swedes called them, for my Scanian war project 1675-1679

All minis from the Warlord game TYW/ECW Dragoon box. These 6 newly painted minis will be mixed up with the rest of my Snapphanar so I can field them as 5 groups of 6 Dragoons.

As the war continued much of the Scanian allmoge started to help out to hunt down the Snapphanar as their way of war had started to take a big toll on the civilians, they was more or less just marauders that took what they wanted and killed any one that opposed them.

During the last part of the war there was an unofficial order from the Danish King that they should destroy as much as they colud, "lay the land in ruins and leve non to the Swedes".

I also managed to paint 2 extra Danish Musketeers (Minis from Warfare miniatures), the Grenadier was painted by my maty Sören.

  3. Love your painting style Michael and the mix of one and two figures to a base looks good, whilst still practical for casualty removal.

  5. A nice addition to your growing collection for the Scanian War! There is no doubt that the Scanian civilians suffered great from the atrocities of both sides, I've read that many shires were completely desolate after the war. I'm actually thinking of doing a skirmish collection for the Danish Wars of Karl X Gustav, which laid the ground for the Scanian War and Swedish supremacy in Scandinavia, by the peace settlement of Roskilde. So, look out for Svend Gønge ;0)

  11. These look great! The bases fit in well to any Nordic forest and the colour palette on the minis is great - rustic with spots of brighter colour for contrast.

I look forward to trying out your rules. I just finished reading Peter Englund's "Oövervinnerlige" and feel inspired to wargame the Second Northern War in Scania and Karelia. Your rules seem perfect for this.
